A kitty I encountered on my walk this afternoon.

I have now spoken to a printer who can do a small quality of my beautiful cat photo calendar for a reasonable price.
The calendar will be available in A4 on very nice, thick, good quality coated (satin matt) photo paper with spiral binding on top, and an A3 version of the same quality paper/print. The A3 one is obviously much better for those of you who appreciate cat photography in large, unadulterated size!
A4 – €9.50
A3 – €14.25
*** €2.50 OF EACH CALENDAR SOLD WILL GO TO 9 LIVES LANZAROTE ***
Please contact me with your order via the contact form on this website.

Pompon is dead.
He died at around 8am this morning. Because Claudia had to work we decided that I can care better for him at my place, and I tried everything all night feeding him with a syringe every 2 hours and giving him water, but in the end he got worse and started breathing rapidly and vomiting brown liquid. I rang the emergency vet at 6am, and he did say there´s nothing much I can do, but he might have got food into his lungs cause he also suspected an injury to his thorax.
I don´t want to give you any more gory details, cause I´m feeling very empty and sad at the moment. Sadly, even though I had tried to reach Claudia on the phone this morning from 6am onwards so she could come and be with him, she didn´t hear her mobile phone until later.
Thanks so much to all of you who donated towards his vets bills (they still need to be paid whether we like it or not). If there is anything left over, I will donate it to SARA or 9 Lives Lanzarote.
Pompon´s on his way to the Rainbow Bridge now where his suffering is over…. bless him. *sniff*
UPDATE: Latest & Sadly Last Pompon update HERE…
Fellow Cat Lover Claudia and I are appealing to all of you to give a small donation (€5-€10 if possible) to cover Pompon´s vets bills. Pompon´s full story is outlined here, but most of you already know what happened to him.
Claudia is in big financial trouble so cannot afford to pay a few night´s stay for Pompon in hospital – one night is around €40 with subsequent nights being €20-€30 depending on medication etc. We hope he will only need one or two nights´ stay, but this will still come to around €100 with meds etc. included.
I have now taken the donation button off, thanks everybody – Pompon is on his way to the Rainbow Bridge now.
I have put all the names of those who donated on Pompon´s “Wall of Fame” below. If you have a website, let me know in a message with your PayPal donation and I´ll give you a link to it too.
1. Bob Hewson – €10
2. Dawn Harris – €10
3. Lori Duffy – €10
4. Martine Van de Loo – €8
5. Ari K. – USD 25
6. Anita Verkerk – €25
7. Terry Nunn – €10
8. Andrea McKenna – €10
9. Inese Klucane – €10
10. Anneke Bosma – €5

Pompon with the vet, being admitted to hospital.
I can´t believe it. We finally found missing cat Pompon, and his story is just short of a miracle.
He escaped from a house in La Asomada 20 days ago, and every single day his owner, Claudia, looked for him, put up posters, talked to everybody and put ads in the local papers. She never gave up. Since I don´t have much work on at the moment, I decided to help her (+ I have a car, which helps!) after meeting her on Cat Lovers Lanzarote, a group that I created on Facebook a while ago.
We didn´t find Pompon until today, when a vet in Arrecife called Claudia telling her that he had been knocked down by a car. Luckily a man had witnessed the accident and kindly (unbelievably! This kind of thing doesn´t often happen in Lanzarote!) took Pompon to the those vets – which happened to be just round the corner from where he was hit!
Pompon might still lose his left eye, but we are waiting to see if that heals and hope that it won´t come to that. Otherwise he has no broken bones, but he is painfully thin. Because of the injuries to his face he also lost a couple of teeth and probably has a lot of pain in his mouth, but Claudia will feed him with a syringe if he can´t eat. When we got him back to Claudia´s place, he drank water without problems, which is a good thing of course.
We still can´t believe how much of a miracle cat Pompon is. He made his way about 15km from La Asomada to Arrecife without a scratch, surviving all that way there, then the kind man who picked him up (who are you?) and who took him to the vets after the accident, and the vets happening to be just round the corner. And the veterinary assistant´s name is Angelica. What an ANGEL.
What are the odds of all that, ey? Can´t believe it. Claudia and I are both so over the moon – and Pompon seems very happy too…. *sniff*
Claudia talking to Pompon at the vets – beautiful reunion!

I have now finished putting together next year´s calendar featuring new kitty photos that I have taken during the year 2011. Below is a preview of it.
If you would like to order one or more, please let me know (local folk only, sorry, but postage from here is sooo expensive!).
The price will be around €15 and I will not be making any money from it, because I will donate €5 of every one I sell to 9 Lives Lanzarote, and the calendars work out about €10.00 when I buy them in bulk.

Another post of some of the feral kitties on abandoned, derelict apartment complex “La Perla” in Puerto del Carmen – the kittens are quite sad looking and all have bad eyes.
I am sending 9 Lives Lanzarote the link to this post because the kittens will soon need to be spayed/neutered (I would say they´re about 3-4 months now).
These are two of the more healthy looking, already neutered, adult cats at La Perla.
.
These are not so healthy looking unfortunately….

Two shy kittens running away from me and the big, bad camera…

3 beautiful kittens that need soon be spayed/neutered
.
The black & white and the grey one had quite bad conjunctivities and were very thin, but seemed otherwise healthy. The little white one in the background (which I called “Patch” – go figure!), only appeared to have one eye inflamed…
Lanzarote Folk:
Very cute (see photo) black & white female cat, approx. 6 months old, needs a home. She is a bit shy, but likes a cuddle now & then and would make a wonderful pet. She was spayed yesterday.
If you would like to adopt her, email Mike at: jmkavlanza[at]hotmail[dot]co[dot]uk
Closerrr…..!
Closerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
“Ah, finally you can marvel at my stunning grey beauty close up…” meows Corky from next door.
